Srinagar, Jan 2: Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) marked the celebration of its 8th Convocation at Gnanagangothri Campus on December 29.
During this Convocation, 1864 students were conferred their degree certificates, incorporating 23 Ph.D. degrees and 1 M.S. (Research).
In addition, 37 students were honoured with the “Dr M S Ramaiah Gold Medal” for their tremendous academic performance. Another 37 students received the “Smt. Venkatamma Ramaiah Silver Medal” for academic excellence, while 9 students were awarded the “Smt. Gowramma Ramaiah Silver Medal” for the best dissertation.
Prof. J.N. Reddy, Honorary Distinguished Professor Texas, A&M University, USA and Member-National Academy of Engineering, USA, served as the Chief Guest at the ceremony. In his address, he extended congratulations to all the graduates and medal winners, highlighting the significance of the convocation as a vital moment in a students life—a pinnacle of their efforts, supported by the faculty, proud parents, and family.
He said, “Dream high and work hard to achieve your dream. The easy days ahead of you will be easy. It is the hard times that challenge you to your very core that will determine who you are. The question is not if you will fail. You will. But if you accept your failures and handle them right, the learning that comes from the failures can be a catalyst for success. You will be defined not just by what you achieve but by how impactful it is to society. Take pride in whatever little you do because collectively, we do move the world. The impact is made by those who do something, not being somebody.”
In his speech, he expressed his gratitude and admiration for every teacher, parent, friend, and companion who, through their dedication, guidance, mentorship, support, and sometimes sacrifices, have contributed to making students’ journey through college more manageable and enjoyable. Also, he stated, “I wish each and every one of you a life filled with peace and happiness- happiness that comes from doing something that matters for yourself, your community, and the world.”
Dr. M.R. Jayaram, Chancellor, chaired the Convocation Ceremony, and congratulated everyone, and said, “Graduating from M.S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences is no small feat; it is the culmination of years of hard work, perseverance, and a commitment to excellence. Your journey has been marked by countless hours of study, exploration, and personal growth. Today, you stand on the threshold of a new chapter, well-prepared to contribute to the world in meaningful and impactful ways.”
