RTI Movement demands release of Doda environmental activist
Srinagar, Nov 13: Jammu & Kashmir Right to Information Movement (RTI Movement) has demanded that environmental activist Rehmatullah Padder from Doda be released soon.
In a statement Chairman J&K RTI Movement Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat has appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene and make sure that charges framed under J&K Public Safety Act were dropped against Rehmatullah.
In a statement Dr Raja Muzaffar said that Rehmatullah had exposed the administration and Urban Local Bodies for openly violating MSW Rules 2016 by dumping waste in the forest area of Doda.
“Booking him under the Public Safety Act is highly condemnable as people like him work for public safety through their climate and environmental activism. We appeal Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene and find out the facts which led to arrest of this selfless activist who has been doing great humanitarian work in Doda apart from highlighting environmental issues as well,” reads the statement.
