Rs 209 crore for J&K flood relief cruel joke: Tariq Karra

Srinagar, Sep 16: JKPCC Chief Tariq Hameed Karra on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the government for what he called “inadequate and insensitive” relief to flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir, declaring that the Rs 209 crore financial support announced by the Centre was nothing short of a “joke” compared to the colossal losses suffered across sectors, as per KNS.

Karra, who travelled by road from Jammu to Srinagar to personally assess the devastation, said the floods have inflicted unprecedented damage on agriculture, horticulture, connectivity, personal and public property.

“This is not just the loss of one industry, it is a collective damage to our entire economy. People have lost homes, land, crops, and livelihoods. Yet New Delhi believes Rs 209 crore can heal these wounds. That is a cruel joke,” he said as per KNS.
