New Delhi, May 26: Hamas has launched a rocket attack targeting the Tel Aviv area in central Israel for the first time in nearly four months, setting off alarm sirens. The Qassam Brigade of Hamas claimed that its fighters "killed and captured" an unspecified number of Israeli soldiers in Jabalia camp, though the Israeli military has denied this claim.

According to the Israeli military, at least eight rockets were launched from the Rafah area in southern Gaza, with several intercepted. No injuries have been reported. The Israeli army is currently conducting a military operation in Rafah even though ICJ in its ruling on Friday had asked Israel to stop the operations in Rafah that Israel rejected it and said that operation against Hamas and other terrorist organisations will continue.

Rocket sirens were also sounded in other cities and towns, including Herzliya and Petah Tikva. The BBC reported that Israeli media have published footage showing missile fragments in the garden of a building in Herzliya. Additionally, a social media video depicts a large crater, apparently created by a falling rocket, in an open area near the central town of Kfar Saba.
