Road linking Darhal villages with Rajouri district headquarter in disrepair
Rajouri, Nov 12: The vital road, connecting Rajouri district headquarters with Darhal tehsil via Leeran, lies in a state of disrepair, causing immense inconvenience to commuters.
The stretch from Chowdhary Nar to Darhal has developed large potholes and sustained extensive damage following recent rainfall thus promising bumpy rides and risk of accidents.
The road remains one of the busiest in the region, with hundreds of vehicles plying over it daily.
However, broken patches, dust clouds, and uneven surfaces have turned the route into a major concern for both transporters and residents.
Locals complain that the deteriorated condition not only hampers smooth travel but also poses a serious risk of accidents.
Residents including Abdul Majid, Mohammad Imran, and others have urged the Roads and Buildings Department to take up immediate repair work on the stretch to ensure safe and hassle-free travel.
“A good road connectivity is still a distant dream for our area and accidents are increasing but the concerned department is least bothered about it,” they said.
Responding to the concerns, MLA Thanamandi Muzaffar Iqbal Khan told Greater Kashmir that the project for repairing the Rajouri–Darhal road was under active consideration.
He assured that he would personally ensure its inclusion in upcoming development projects.
