Road connectivity poor in Pir Panjal area : Mian Altaf

Rajouri, July 8: National Conference (NC) MP Mian Altaf Ahmad has expressed displeasure over the poor road connectivity and worst Jal Shakti scenario in Pir Panjal area.

He was talking to media person in Rajouri on the side lines of his brief maiden visit after winning the Parliament elections with a huge margin. Mian Altaf said that the condition of roads especially in villages is worst and the concerned department is not able to ensure good road connectivity which is a matter of concern. “I will try my level best to put in effort to improve the road connectivity,”he said.

The MP also mentioned about slow pace of the work on national highway between Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch . He said no work is being done on Rajouri- Thanamandi- Surankote road and said that he met with union Defence Minister in regard with both these roads which fall under the control of border roads organisation.

"The matter of poor condition of these vital road was taken up with Defence Minister who has assured that necessary measures will be taken to improve the condition of these roads and I expect that his assurance will be true," Mian Altaf Ahmad said. He added that he will keep on following the issue of these two important road links with defence ministry on regular intervals. He further underlined the importance of round the year functional Mughal road to boost the economic condition of the region as well as to provide around the year road connectivity.

" This road has significant value but unfortunately it remains close for almost 6 months in an year where are there is need of a tunnel and the matter will be taken up with the Government." Member Parliament said.

Mentioning about a dream project of railway line in this region, he said that railway line can easily be extended from Reasi to Poonch and Rajouri as the Reasi railway line has been made functional. " I will follow this dream project," he added.
