Kargil, Nov 29: The Traffic Police in Kargil have issued a traffic advisory imposing restrictions and diversions in various parts of the town on Sunday in view of the Class 10 level examination being conducted by the district administration for the KSSRB recruitment.

A local news gathering agency, KNT, said that the advisory will remain in effect from 8 am to 4 pm to ensure smooth movement of candidates to and from examination centres and to prevent congestion in sensitive areas around Kargil town.

Under the restrictions, the Government Degree College road will remain closed to all types of vehicles, including Army vehicles, except those carrying examination candidates.

Traffic from the Government Degree College side will be diverted through the bypass NHW, while vehicles from other directions will be routed towards the Government Degree College road.

At BSNL Crossing, no vehicle will be allowed to enter the Upper Chankchik route.

Traffic from the Gongma side will be diverted towards Lal Chowk.

At Sawab School Crossing Baroo, traffic towards Baroo Shagaran will be restricted and diverted either towards Baroo Khan Ka side or Tituchumik.

Traffic curbs will also be implemented intermittently at Lal Chowk and Poyen Bridge, depending on ground conditions.

Similar controls may be enforced at other strategic junctions if required.

Candidates appearing at centres in HS Gongma, Lankor and Girls Higher Secondary School have been advised to use the Upper Chankchik route for easy access.

Travellers heading towards Srinagar or Drass and those travelling to Leh or Zanskar have been advised to use the bypass route and avoid Kargil Bazar, the circular route and the Poyen-DPL link road during the advisory hours.

No roadside parking will be allowed around the town and near examination centres.

Officials have requested candidates to use public transport or shared vehicles and avoid unnecessary movement in restricted zones.

The Traffic Police have appealed to the general public to cooperate and warned that inconvenience to commuters is regretted but necessary in the interest of smooth examination conduct.

Notably, Kargil town witnesses heavy traffic during major examinations due to the limited road width and concentration of centres in the main city area.

In past years, congestion had repeatedly delayed candidates, prompting stricter planning and traffic regulation.

Authorities said this year’s restrictions are aimed at preventing delays and ensuring that candidates reach their centres without disruption.
