Sites strategically located near the railway station are ideal for commercial development, including hotels, shopping complexes, and marriage halls. These developments can significantly boost the local economy, create employment opportunities, and cater to the large influx of tourists visiting the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. With over 95 lakh pilgrims visiting the shrine in 2023 and numbers expected to rise, the demand for such commercial facilities is set to grow even further.

It is notable that Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) has four key mandates as a part of its development plan, namely leasing commercial sites, colony redevelopment, station redevelopment and multi-functional complexes.
