Rijiju's statement centre's refusal to honour statehood commitments: Karra
Rajouri, Feb 16: JKPCC Chief Tariq Hameed Karra today said that the statement Union Minister Kiran Rijiju regarding statehood is centre's refusal to honour statehood commitments.
According to a press release, he was addressing a Congress workers’ convention at Doongi in district Rajouri. Karra also said that Congress will be part of J&K Government only when snatched rights of people of are restored.
Working President of J&K Congress unit, Raman Bhalla, MLA Rajouri Iftkhar Ahmed, Congress District President Shabir Ahmed Khan and other senior party leaders were also present in this convention which was attended by a number of people.
JKPCC Chief said Rijiju in his statement refused to give any timeline for restoration of statehood. “This is a clear message that centre is not ready to consider grant of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir in near future,” Karra said.
He criticised the BJP led central government for its “betrayal over its repeated commitments with regard to early restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.” JKPCC Chief said that center made commitment on the floor of the parliament, before the Supreme Court and in numerous public rallies by Prime Minister and Home Minister regarding statehood restoration. He added that Rijiju's statement yesterday is a clear indication of centre's intentions not to honour it's commitments to grant early statehood to J&K.
JKPCC Chief who is on a campaign of Jammu Province , on the party's mission " Hamari Riyasat, Hamara Haq" for early restoration of statehood, called upon the people to be ready to fight for getting back their dentity, dignity, status and rights as a state.
