Revisit, strengthen security plans: IGP Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 2: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, chaired a comprehensive security review meeting on Friday at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir in light of the recent violence in the region.

The meeting saw the presence of top security officials including IG CRPF (SOS), JD IB Srinagar, IG CRPF (KOS) Srinagar, DIG CID Srinagar, DIGs of Kashmir Zone Police, DIG Armed Kashmir, DIG CRPF South Srinagar, SSP PCR Kashmir, all district SSPs, DC SB Srinagar, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, SSP CID SBK, SSP Traffic City Srinagar, SP PC Srinagar, and other senior officers.

During the meeting, the discussion focused on recent security developments and the current challenges faced by the region.

Strategies to counter these challenges were a key part of the agenda.

The IGP Kashmir emphasised the necessity of revisiting and strengthening security plans while formulating effective counter-insurgency strategies to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of forthcoming events.

IGP Birdi underscored the importance of heightened surveillance on anti-national elements and increased area dominations in respective jurisdictions.

He highlighted the need for enhanced security measures around vulnerable targets and directed comprehensive security arrangements for the upcoming events.

The IGP instructed district heads to closely monitor social media platforms to thwart any attempts at spreading misinformation that could impact public safety and order.

He directed the officers to intensify Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs), especially in sensitive areas and along the National Highway.

The meeting ended with a firm resolve to ensure heightened vigilance, improved coordination, and the effective implementation of security measures to maintain peace and safety across Kashmir.
