Restore statehood to J&K: Congress

Srinagar, Jul 14: Congress today reiterated its demand for restoration of statehood to J&K.

The demand was made during meetings of District Congress committees Srinagar and Anantnag. According to a press release, amid ongoing Congress Party’s programme “Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq” Srinagar District Congress Committee held a meeting of senior leaders and workers at Srinagar Party office. The meeting was held on the direction of JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra.

The newly appointed coordinator for Srinagar Nizam Ud Din Bhat (MLA) presided over the meeting and urged the party leaders and workers of Srinagar to gear up for the upcoming challenges especially ULB and Panchayat elections.

Bhat laid emphasis over connecting with the people at grass roots while urging the cadres to seek their (people’s) full support to Congress party’s pro people policies and programmes. Apart from reviewing organisational activities Congress Chief Whip Nizam- Ud- Din Bhat and Coordinator for Srinagar sought feedback with regard to current situation in blocks and wards in the entire district. He told the party workers to prepare for the ULB and Panchayat elections, which will be announced anytime, therefore, “we need to be fully prepared for these, he told the workers.”

Similar meeting was held by the District Congress Committee Anantnag at Khanabal, which was presided over by party Coordinator for Anantnag Bashir Ahmad Magray (ExMLA). The meeting threadbare discussed the party activities in Anantnag district and resolved to continue Party’s programme “Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq” for restoration of statehood to J&K.
