Restoration of vehicular movement expected in next 2 days: Officials
Mandi (Poonch), Apr 10: Senior government officials in Poonch today said that the Mughal Road is expected to be reopened for vehicular traffic movement in next two days.
Deputy commissioners of Poonch and Shopian district today carried out joint inspection of historic Road to take stock of site situation and to take final call on restoration of movement of vehicles.
The deputy commissioners were accompanied by senior police officers. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch, Shafket Hussain accompanied the Deputy Commissioner Poonch Vikas Kundal. The officers held meeting at Pir Ki Gali and also conducted joint inspection of road overseeing the field situation and status of road for movement of vehicles taking into consideration apprehensions of slippery conditions, snow avalanche and landslides.
Deputy Commissioner Poonch Vikas Kundal said that the work for snow clearance on road was completed on April 10 which was the target date but fresh snowfall has occurred on Wednesday evening and Thursday and this fresh snowfall is causing a slight delay in road opening.
“The earlier snow has already been cleared but there is presence of very light blanket of fresh snow which will be removed subsequently and road will be restored immediately thereafter,” he said.
