Restoration of statehood our right, not favour: Dr Farooq Abdullah
Srinagar, Jun 23: National Conference (NC) President , Dr Farooq Abdullah, on Monday said that restoration of the statehood to Jammu and Kashmir is a right of the people and not any favour to be given by the Government of India.
Talking to reporters here, he said, “Statehood is the right of this state. It is not a favour but it is the right of the people here.”
On the ongoing global tensions, the NC President said that Israel never wanted Iran to increase its nuclear power. “Israel wanted it from the beginning that Iran should not increase its nuclear power,” he said. He further said that not only Israel but other Sunni countries are against it as well.
“But they do not have the courage to speak. I feel sorry for them. Today they think that an attack has been made on Iran. But I warn them that Israel will launch an attack on their countries as well. Israel only wants their oil and gas,” he said.
Dr Farooq Abdullah said that the attack launched on Iran by Israel was backed by America. “I hope that the powers of the world are watching it and if this escalates, the economic conditions of every country will be affected,” he said.
Dr Abdullah prayed that the war between Iran and Israel should end and not escalate. “The world’s countries are trying to stop this war. May Allah make them successful in this, otherwise the economic condition in India will be very bad,” he said.
Meanwhile, the NC president launched a Human Rights wing which will be headed by the MLA Pampore Justice (retd) Hasnain Masoodi.
“The details of the other two members of the commission will be shared later,” Dr Abdullah said.
