Residents seek ambulance for NTPHC Ashpora
Kupwara, Nov 5: Residents of Ashpora and adjoining areas have urged health authorities to restore ambulance services at the New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) Ashpora to ease patient hardships during medical emergencies.
Locals said they struggle to shift patients to tertiary hospitals as the lone ambulance was taken to Srinagar for repairs two years ago but never replaced. “We are forced to hire cabs to shift patients to Handwara hospital, which many labourers here cannot afford,” a resident said.
Despite repeated pleas, the issue remains unresolved. The residents have sought intervention of the Director of Health Services, Kashmir, to address the grievance. Block Medical Officer Langate, Dr Nazir Ahmad, said they have written to higher authorities and a replacement ambulance is expected soon.
