Baramulla, Aug 28: The residents of Babagail Limber in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, have called on authorities to initiate macadamisation work on a 2-kilometre road stretch on priority basis.

The road, which runs from Dar Mohalla to Gujjar Patti, is in a severely dilapidated condition, causing severe hardships for both commuters and drivers.

According to locals, while most of the roads in the area have been macadamised, this particular stretch has been left unattended, making it especially treacherous during rainy days. “The road turns dangerously slippery during rains,” said Farhan, a resident of the area. “With winter fast approaching, the situation is likely to worsen, making it even more difficult for the residents to navigate. The administration needs to act immediately to address this issue,” added Farhan.

Another resident, while expressing his concern, questioned why this specific road stretch was neglected while the rest of the roads were macadamised. He said scores of residents are living along this road stretch including the Gujjar Patti and depriving them of better road connectivity is a huge injustice to them.

“We don’t understand why this road stretch was overlooked. The authorities must take immediate action to prevent further inconvenience to the residents,” said Ghulam Din, a resident of Gujjar Patti.

Babagail village, situated in the Limber area of Baramulla, is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and is home to the famous Kazinag National Park. The area attracts numerous visitors who come to experience the natural beauty, including the popular waterfall in the region.

“The area attracts lots of tourists during summer. The major attraction here is Kazinag national Park besides the waterfall. The road connectivity is extremely important for the development of this area. With proper roads, the flow of visitors is expected to increase which will benefit the locals here,” said Ashiq Hussain, a local resident.
