Residents of Radbugh village of Kupwara demand better healthcare facilities
Kupwara, Oct 17: The residents of Radbugh, in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, have expressed concerns that the local health centre is not meeting the needs of the community due to a lack of proper healthcare facilities, causing severe hardships.
The residents stated that the centre operates only on a few days of the week, and on other days, no staff members are present, leading to significant inconvenience.
Although a new building has been constructed for the health centre, the authorities have yet to shift the centre to this new facility, raising concerns among the local populace. “The health centre in our village is currently operating in a single room on the second floor of a shop and has not yet been relocated to the new building,” a local resident told Greater Kashmir.
The residents shared that they were overjoyed when the health centre was established in their locality a few years ago, but they feel it has not met the needs and expectations of the community, forcing them to seek alternatives for even minor ailments.
Despite having raised the issue with the concerned authorities numerous times, no action has been taken. The residents have requested the immediate intervention of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, to address their concerns and end their sufferings.
Meanwhile, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Kupwara, Dr Zaffar Akbar, told Greater Kashmir that he would personally look into the matter. “In fact, I will visit the centre myself to assess the situation,” he added.
