Residents of Nigeen Bagh demand road repair, drainage facility
Srinagar, May 10: The residents of Nigeen Bagh, located near Nigeen Club and Shikara Ghat 1, have raised their voices in unity to address a critical issue plaguing their neighborhood.
The dilapidated condition of the entry road leading to their locality has become a cause of concern, particularly during the monsoon season.
The residents lamented the sorry state of affairs, describing the pathway as a quagmire of mud and stagnant water, rendering it impassable for pedestrians.
The accumulation of water not only impedes movement but also poses health hazards due to the breeding grounds it provides for mosquitoes.
Adding to the woes is the heavy influx of tourist traffic, with approximately 50-60 minibuses and taxis traversing the road daily.
The absence of a proper drainage system exacerbates the situation, leaving the road inundated with rainwater, emitting foul odours and rendering it unsuitable for use.
Expressing their dismay, the residents emphasised the detrimental impact of the situation on their daily lives and the image of Dal Lake as a tourist destination.
They underscored their commitment to maintaining a clean and hospitable environment for both residents and visitors alike.
In a collective plea to the authorities, the residents urged immediate action to rectify the road’s condition and implement a functional drainage system.
They highlighted the urgency of the matter and called upon the support of local municipal authorities and concerned officials to address their grievances effectively.
As the residents rally for change, they remain hopeful that their voices will be heard, and necessary measures will be taken to alleviate their plight.
