Baramulla, Sep 20: The residents of Dungdara Kreeri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have called upon the local administration to widen the Uthoora-Dungdara road, as they face immense hardships due to its narrow width.

Currently, the road measures only 7-8 feet, making it nearly impossible for two vehicles to pass simultaneously, leading to frequent traffic blockages.

Local farmers, who rely on the road for transporting produce, especially during the harvesting season, have expressed frustration.

“The road is too narrow, and during peak times like the apple harvest, two tractors cannot pass together, causing massive traffic jams that last for hours,” said Muhammad Ashraf, a local resident.

The issue is particularly problematic during busy periods, such as weddings or funerals.

“Yesterday, a young girl from this village died. People who visited the family for condolence faced immense hardships as the road stretch is just one way,” said Muhammad Ramzan, another resident of the village Dungdara.

The locals said the issue becomes more complicated during the harvesting season.

“As the harvesting season approaches, traffic congestion becomes a daily struggle. And farmers find it extremely difficult to transport their produce following narrowed roads,” said a local resident.

The residents are now urging the Baramulla district administration to prioritise the widening of the road to ease their hardships and improve traffic flow.
