Kangan, Jan 15: The residents of Hariganiwan village of Kangan in Ganderbal district today held a protest against the water scarcity in their area.

Reports said that local residents including men, women and children, assembled near the village and blocked the road resulting in vehicles getting stranded on the road. They were raising slogans against the PHE (Jal-Shakti) department, for the shortage of water supply in their area for last several days. They said that their houses have been provided the top water connection, but there is no water supply running through those pipes and  they are facing tremendous difficulties in winter.

The villagers  requested the administration to look into their difficulty and provide them the water supply in their village. Meanwhile, the traffic remained suspended on the road for some time, which was later restored after a team of police station Gund reached the spot and requested the protestors to call off their protest. They  assuring them that their problem will be taken up with PHE authorities and the problem they are facing will be addressed.
