Residents in Anantnag’s Sirhama decry unscheduled power cuts
Anantnag, June 9: Residents of village Sirhama in Anantnag district have expressed resentment and dismay against the unscheduled power cuts in the locality. A delegation from the village said the unprecedented prolonged power cuts in the summer season have pushed the inhabitants to an “inexpressible discomfort”. “It astonishes us to see how the summer power cuts are now more than what we see in the winter.
Absence of electricity amid intense temperatures has unleashed a multiple of tribulations on our lives. We fail to understand why this happens in summers now, when rivers are turgid and generation is enough,” the delegation told Greater Kashmir.
What is disturbing us the most is the study of the students’ and inconvenience to the patients, both suffer ineffably, according to the delegation. The delegation put the blame on the authorities concerned. “When we bring the issue to the notice of the officials concerned, the situation improves for a day or so. So, the relief proves short-lived. We are fed up with this treachery, the government has had with us,” the delegation said. “If the authorities continue to leave our grievances un-addressed, we will be forced to come out on the streets. The unscheduled power cuts violate our consumer rights and attests to the government's failure to provide power supply as per prescribed schedule”, it added.
