Commuters routinely face traffic jams, with the situation worsening during winters and peak agricultural periods. “We witness frequent snarls on this narrow stretch. Often, one vehicle has to stop to let another pass,” said Ishfaq Ahmad, a local resident and convenor of the All India Youth Federation (J&K Chapter). “We have been demanding road widening for years, but nothing has been done,” he added. Another resident, stressed the grave risks the road poses during emergencies. “Ambulances and fire trucks struggle to pass through. In critical situations, such delays can cost lives and property,” he said. The resident  also pointed out that local farmers face difficulty transporting their produce, particularly during the harvesting season. “This road is not just a village route it’s a vital link to the Fruit Mandi in Shopian,” he said.  The residents have appealed to the authorities to take immediate steps to widen the road and improve connectivity in the area, warning that continued inaction will only worsen their daily hardships.
