Reputed broadcaster and writer Abdul Gani Sheikh is no more
Srinagar, Aug 20: Reputed broadcaster, writer and historian, Abdul Gani Sheikh passed away at his home in Leh district of Ladakh on Tuesday.
Born in Leh on March 05, 1936, Sheikh worked for the upliftment of Urdu language and penned several books.
Abdul Gani Sheikh was a versatile writer, translator, and fiction writer besides a famous research scholar who has not only served radio but also contributed immensely to Ladakhi literature
He also worked as a correspondent, ANE & NE with RNU AIR & DD Srinagar. His novel “Dil Hi Tau Hai” received best book award from J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages.
Former Secretary Cultural Academy & former ADG Doordarshan, Dr Rafeeq Masoodi has condoled Sheikh’s demise and expressed heartfelt sympathies with the next of his kin.
“The family of All India Radio & Doordarshan Srinagar stand with the family of Abdul Gani Sheikh in this hour of grief & prays for eternal peace to the departed soul”, Dr. Masoodi said in his condolence message.
