Srinagar, Aug 22: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday said that the Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2025 has so far been used only to target opposition leaders, questioning the government’s claims of fighting corruption.

Speaking to media persons in Srinagar, Omar said, “The expectations we had from this Parliament session have not been met. We will start our process from here. We felt the promises made to us would be implemented.”

On the Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2025, the CM questioned the intent behind the move. “So far, only opposition leaders have been targeted in the cases filed. If this step is truly about ending corruption, then what impact has the government’s work since 2014 had until now?” he asked.

Earlier, there was strong speculation about statehood being restored to Jammu and Kashmir, with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah himself repeatedly expressing hope that it would happen during the current Monsoon session of Parliament. (JKNS)
