Reopening of schools deferred in Doda after avalanche warning
Bhadarwah, Feb 21: Due to continuous inclement weather and warning of possible snow avalanches , the district administration Doda today deferred the reopening of schools for a day .
After two months of winter vacation, the educational institutions were scheduled to reopen today. Keeping in view the safety of teachers and students the reopening was e deferred for the day. The snowfall continued in Bhadarwah, Gandoh and parts of Thathri beside higher reaches of Doda for the third consecutive day today.
ADC Bhadarwah Sunil Kumar said that DC Doda Harvinder Singh ordered that all the schools should remain closed as a precautionary measure following torrential rains in the plains and snow fall in higher reaches. ADC appealed that people should avoid to venture near avalanche prone areas.
Teachers expressed gratitude to the district administration for taking the decision which cane to a relief in the harsh weather.
