Renowned Islamic scholar Shaikh Ahmad Shabani passes away

Kargil, Jul 24: Hujjatul Islam Shaikh Ahmad Shabani of Karkitchoo, son of Haji Hussain Shabani recently passed away.

A prominent religious scholar and preacher, Shaikh Shabani was known for his lifelong commitment to Islamic education, social service, and global Tabligh.

Thousands of mourners, including religious scholars, students, and citizens from across Kargil, participated in the mourning procession.

His body was brought to the Isna Ashriya Campus Kargil, where final respects were paid in an atmosphere of deep reverence and sorrow.

Shaikh Ahmad Shabani began his religious journey at Madrasa Shaikh Ghulam Hussain in Karkitchoo, than in Madrasa Ithna Asharia Kargil, later pursuing further studies at Babul Ilm, a well-known Shia educational institute in Budgam, Kashmir.

He eventually advanced to the holy city of Najaf Ashraf in Iraq for higher Islamic learning and after teo years returned to Hawza Ilmiya Qum and then to Hawza Ilmiya Mashhad.

Rahbar Moazzam Sayed Ali Khamanaie and Allama Tabarsi in Mashahd were the prominent clerics under whome he studied in Hawza Ilmiya Mashhad.

Upon returning from Iran he is among the few ulemas of Kargil who ventured in improving islamic seminaries all over India, he was affiliated with the Alliman Foundation, Alimaan Charitable Trust, based in Mumbai.

He was also associated with Alkhoie Foundation and was representative of Ayatullah Khoie and Ayatullah Seestani. Through this platform, he carried out extensive religious and humanitarian work across India and abroad, notably in Thailand and Bangladesh.

His mission led to the bringing of over 5000 individuals towards Shia Islam in Thailand, earning him recognition and an award from the World Ahlulbait Islamic League for his outstanding efforts.

He was very closely associated with Ayatullah Sayed Mohammed Al Musawi and carried out many religious and social ventures. On the direction of Ayatullah Khoie he travelled to Bangkok, Thailand and was able to initiate the first Shia Seminary in Bangkok and later an extensive islamic and modern education institues, mosques and Imambargahs in South of Thailand.

His students from Jamia Amirul Momineen Najafi House, Mumbai and Islamic Seminaries in Thailand and Bangaladesh are now the pioneers in running islamic seninaries world over and contributing to social welfare of community in particular and humanity in general.

Shaikh Shabani has initiated and promoted many important educational, religious, health and social welfare projects specific to both Leh and Kargil and in Jammu & Kashmir besides partnering many renowned and prominent personalities and institutions in and around the world. He was master in teaching islamic ethics and had nurtured thousands of students in the subject.
