Renowned Ghazal maestro Pankaj Udhas passes away

Ghazal icon Pankaj Udhas breathed his last on Monday (February 26) in Mumbai, succumbing to a prolonged illness at the age of 73. The sad news was confirmed by his daughter Nayyab via social media, stating, "With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padma Shri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to a prolonged illness. Udhas family." His final rites are scheduled for Tuesday.
Pankaj Udhas had been battling illness for some time and had been deteriorating health over the past few days. He passed away around 11 am at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
Born into a musically inclined family in Gujarat, Pankaj was the youngest of three brothers. Following the footsteps of his brothers, Manhar Udhas and Nirmal Udhas, who had already established themselves in the music industry, Pankaj embarked on his singing career.
Renowned for his soulful ghazals, Pankaj Udhas captivated audiences with his velvet voice, leaving an indelible mark on the world of music.
Survived by his wife Farida Udhas and daughters Nayaab and Reva, Pankaj Udhas leaves behind a legacy of timeless melodies that will continue to resonate with music lovers for generations to come.
