Renowned endocrinologists gather for comprehensive conference
Srinagar Oct 4: Renowned endocrinologists gathered for a comprehensive conference on endocrine disorders as SKIMS hosted “Endocrine Update – 2024.”
According to a press release, the conference was organised by the Department of Endocrinology SKIMS under the aegis of Endocrine Society of India ( ESI) & MP- PCOS Society. The event featured distinguished national speakers who presented the latest breakthroughs in Endocrinology. The scientific program covered crucial areas of Endocrinology including Diabetes and Obesity, Thyroid, Adrenal Reproductive Endocrinology, Bone and Mineral Metabolism and Pediatric Endocrinology.
The inaugural ceremony was held at SKIMS Auditorium by a distinguished panel, including Professor Sarita Bajaj (former Director-Professor and Head of Medicine at MLN Medical College, Allahabad), Professor Mohd. Ashraf Ganie (Director of SKIMS), and Professor Shariq Rashid Masoodi (Dean of the Medical Faculty SKIMS).
Dr Sarita Bajaj leading endocrinologist of the country was the chief guest on the occasion. She underscored the significance of these academic activities to remain abreast with latest techniques/ advances in endocrinology across the globe and emphasised that there is a need to focus beyond diabetes and stressed for action to avoid complications of metabolic syndrome. She admired Director SKIMS / EOSG Prof M Ashraf Ganie for his enormous contributions to the Endocrine Society of India and M-PCOS Society.
Director SKIMS & EOSG Prof. M. Ashraf Ganie who was present on the occasion expressed his gratitude to the chief guest Dr. Sarita Bajaj for gracing the occasion and decribed her as a torch bearer in the Country in the field of Endocrinology who has marked her presence through impactful work and enormous contributions.
Director SKIMS brought into focus that Endocrinology has become diverse and is no more restricted to diabetes & thyroid. It has grown as a superspecilalised area with many branches with a wide scope for research, he added.
He thanked and appreciated the organising committee for a well planned program covering wide areas of endocrinology for discussion to benefit the medical practitioners with latest advances in Endocrinology.
Eminent speakers, including Dr Sarita Bajaj, Dr Bashir Ahmad Laway, Tushar Bhandarkar, and others, shared their expertise on managing complex endocrine cases, latest treatment options, and advancements in the field. The conference also included a panel discussion on the management of Disorders of Sex Development (DSD), emphasizing a multidisciplinary approach.
Prof Reyaz Misgar, organising chairman of the event in his address welcomed the faculty and guests and highlighted the areas for discussion and hoped that the academic program will be successful aimed to discuss new advances and updates in endocrinology across globe.
Dr Moomin Hussain Bhat, organising secretary of the event concluded the inaugural ceremony with a vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to all the participants for making the event successful.
