Renowned educationist Prof A G Madhosh passes away
Srinagar, Feb 24: Renowned educationist and psychologist Prof Abdul Gani Madhosh passed away on Saturday morning.
He was the former Dean and Head of School Education, Physical Education, and former Director of the State Resource Centre (SRC) of the University of Kashmir (KU).
His Nimaz-e-Jinazah was performed at 10:30 am at his residence in Srinagar.
Prof Madhosh was a renowned educationist, social scientist, and psychologist and contributed to education policy and planning both at the state and the national level.
He was an alumnus of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and served the Department of Education in the capacity of Dean and Head for almost 17 years.
Prof Madhosh remained the Director of SRC, Director of Physical Education, and worked as Director of Counselling.
He served KU as Dean Faculty of Non-formal Education.
Prof Madhosh was the founder of Insight Journal of the School of Education and wrote several books including ‘Nafsiyat’, a book in the Kashmiri language.
He translated several books from English to Kashmiri and wrote more than 100 papers.
Prof Madhosh guided more than 50 M Phil and PhD scholars.
After his retirement in 2001, he started his school ‘A G Madhosh's City School’.
His death has been widely condoled and people from a cross-section of the society, especially from the academic and research community, paid rich tributes to the departed soul.
The social media platforms were also overwhelmed by heartfelt tributes pouring in from Prof Madhosh’s students and colleagues, many of whom attributed their personal and professional growth to his mentorship.
