Affectionately known as the 'Iron Lady' of Kunzer, Rukaya is the proud owner of a thriving grocery store, a testament to her unwavering pursuit of independence and self-sufficiency. Unlike many who succumb to the challenges of disability, Rukaya chose to forge her own path, defying the odds and earning a decent living through her hard work and perseverance.

"I didn't choose to stay home and look for easy ways like begging and seeking donations. I always wanted to do something that makes my family proud," Rukaya declares with a resolute determination, as she deftly pulls down a packet of biscuits for a customer at her store.

Her journey began at the age of 20, when she insisted her father open a shop for her, a decision that would shape her future and redefine the narrative of what it means to be physically challenged. For eleven years, Rukaya has been at the helm of this humble establishment, her unwavering commitment and dedication earning her the admiration of her community.

"I am the elder child of my parents, and it hurts me to see my aged father earning to feed all of us, paying for my siblings expenses and also saving money for us," Rukaya explains, her voice laced with a profound sense of responsibility.

Every morning, Rukaya's elderly father dutifully pushes her wheelchair until she reaches her shop, a short distance from their home. With thoughtful design considerations, ensuring that every item is within her reach, Rukaya's father has created an environment that fosters her independence and self-reliance.

Even in the face of adversity, Rukaya's determination remained unshaken. It was a chance encounter with Mohammad Sultan, a fellow physically challenged individual from a neighboring village, that reignited her spirit. "Sultan motivated me to continue, saying that I can do wonders," she recalls, her eyes sparkling with renewed hope.

Rukaya's journey doesn't stop at her grocery store. She has embarked on a new chapter, taking online classes to learn about establishing her own business. "I also do staple work,  I have learned a lot from these classes and have regained my courage," she says, her voice brimming with excitement. " I am continuously training to learn new things to keep my mind busy as well as look for avenues from where i can earn."

Rukaya's message to others like her is clear: "I suggest all people like me become self-reliant and never make this disability your weakness."
In a world that often underestimates the power of the human spirit, Rukaya stands tall as a beacon of hope, her resilience and self-reliance inspiring others to embrace their challenges and forge their own paths to success.
