Baramulla, Feb 19: The relentless downpour in the plain areas of north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Monday caused severe inconvenience to the people here, with the upper reaches receiving substantial snowfall, leading to a cascade of challenges for the locals.

In the Rafiabad area, the upper reaches were blanketed with approximately one foot of snow by Monday evening, despite authorities deploying snow clearance machines in anticipation of the weather conditions.

The landscapes of the upper belt in Uri were covered in a layer of snow that came at the cost of disrupted connectivity with the plains for the residents.

While the upper regions were covered under snow, the plain areas faced a different challenge. Relentless rains caused severe water logging across the district.

In Baramulla town, residents reported overflowing drainages, leading to inconvenience and hardships.

The dilapidated condition of roads exacerbated the situation with areas like Tehsil Road, Nanak Bhawan, R&B Road, Khawaja Bagh, and Delina bearing the brunt of water logging.

Locals expressed frustration, alleging that inadequate cleaning of drainages worsened the situation during the rainy days.

The residents of Baramulla town appealed to municipal officials to ensure proper functioning and regular maintenance of the drainage system to prevent recurring issues.

In Delina Baramulla, the locals highlighted the poor condition of the road from the main road Delina to Delina Ghat, which has reportedly not been repaired for a long period.

Following the rainfall, the road stretch was submerged, causing significant inconvenience for the residents of the area.
