Refrain from going near River Chenab banks: Government advisory

Ramban, Aug 04: Amid increasing water level in River Chenab, the administration Sunday issued an advisory asking people to refrain from approaching the banks of River Chenab and to stay away from the River Chenab.

District Magistrate Ramban issued an advisory saying, “It has been brought to our attention that due to substantial rainfall, the water level of River Chenab upstream of Kiru Dam is rising which will also impact the water level in Baglihar Dam and further downstream of River Chenab.”

“In light of this situation and to ensure the safety and well-being of the people, travellers, and drivers, it is hereby advised to refrain from approaching the River Chenab’s bank areas as swift currents can be extremely hazardous. The public is urged to remain calm and vigilant. Continuous updates on water levels in the river will be provided via our official social media channels,” the advisory issued by the District Magistrate, Ramban, read.
