Reducing firewood quota for masjids unfortunate: DPAP
Srinagar, Jan 1: DPAP leader Peer Bilal has criticised the government decision to decrease the firewood quota for masjids of the Kashmir.
In a statement, he said the decision to decrease the allocation of firewood for masjid Hamams in Kashmir is indeed an unfortunate step, especially considering the harsh winter conditions the region is experiencing this year. For decades, the Forest Department has been providing firewood to these masjids to support their hamams, which are an essential part of the community’s social and religious fabric, he added.
“Reducing the quota by 50 percent will undoubtedly cause significant difficulties for the masjids and the people who rely on them for warmth and hygiene during the cold winter months. It is essential that the government recognizes the importance of this service and takes immediate action to restore the previous allocation of firewood,” Peer Bilal said.
