Reduced discharge in Chenab: Water supply in Jammu irrigation canals drops
Jammu, Dec 12: The water supply in Jammu canals, including Ranbir and new Partap canal, has dropped due to reduced discharge in the river Chenab, resulting in disruption of the irrigation water supply.
The concerned department, while notifying it through a public notice, has assured that the water supply will be restored in the canals as and when the water level increases in the Chenab up to desired level.
“It is for the information of the general public that due to reduced discharge in the river Chenab, the water supply in the irrigation canals - Ranbir canal, new Partap canal, Ranjan canal, Garkhal canal and Pargwal canal- has been dropped, resulting in disruption of the irrigation water supply in these canals,” read a public notice issued by the office of the Superintending Engineer Hydraulic Circle Jammu, J&K.
“Therefore, the water supply shall be restored in the canals as and when the water level increases in the river Chenab up to desired level,” the notice read.
