Srinagar, Aug 30: The Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust has stated that the reconstruction and restoration of the ancient Shiv Temple, commonly known as the Maharani Temple in Gulmarg is progressing rapidly.

The temple was originally constructed in 1915 by the Maharani of the Dogra Royal Family of erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir Princely State.

Vikramaditya Singh, former MLC and Trustee of J&K Dharmarth Trust, had visited the temple site on the same day as the fire incident. He personally took charge of overseeing the reconstruction process and directed the Dharmarth Trust to prioritize the rebuilding of this important Hindu religious site, ensuring it is restored to its former glory while preserving its historic and architectural heritage. He has been personally conducting weekly review meetings and site visits to ensure timely progress.

Brigadier R S Langeh (Retd), President of the Trust, expressed satisfaction with the pace of the reconstruction, stating that the work has progressed rapidly within a short span of less than three months. "The Trust has been working diligently to restore the temple. Once finished, the temple will be reopened to the public, allowing devotees to once again offer their prayers at this sacred site."

He further expressed his deepest gratitude to the Chairman - Gulmarg Development Authority, DC Baramulla, Local Administration, J&K Police and the Indian Army for their support and cooperation rendered during this time.
