Budgam, Nov 5: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K  president Ravinder Raina on Wednesday launched an attack on his political rivals, accusing the National Conference of “disrespecting their own senior leader nd Srinagar Member of Parliament, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi.”

Speaking at an election rally here in Budgam, Raina questioned the loyalty and internal discipline of the NC, saying that a party that fails to respect its own leaders cannot be trusted to serve the people.

“A person who has been elected three times as an MLA from Budgam and is now an MP deserves the highest regard from his party. Those who don’t respect their own party’s senior leader and their own MP, how will they respect the people of Budgam?” Raina asked, drawing loud applause from the crowd.

Without naming individuals, Raina’s remarks were widely seen as a reference to growing internal rifts within the National Conference following reports of differences between Aga Ruhullah and the party’s top brass over policy positions and regional representation.

Raina accused the NC leadership of sidelining capable local representatives for personal and dynastic interests. “The people of Budgam know who stood by them in times of need and who only remembered them during elections. Politics should not be about families or slogans — it should be about genuine service and accountability,” he said. Raina also appealed to the youth to stay away from divisive politics and focus on peace and progress.
