Rashtriya Ekta Diwas: Unity run events, parades, pledge taking ceremonies held across Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 31: On Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, several events and unity runs were held across Kashmir.

Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan visited the District Drug De-addiction Centre (DDAC), where he along with SSP Kulgam Anayat Ali Choudhary inaugurated a fitness room and library at the District Drug De-addiction Centre Kulgam.

During the visit, the DC also interacted with recovered patients and assessed the available treatment and rehabilitation facilities at the centre.  He commended the patients for their courage, determination commitment to overcoming addiction.

District Administration Shopian along with Mera Yuva Bharat organised a ‘Padyatra’. The Padyatra, which commenced from Old Fruit Mandi, Arhama Shopian, culminated at the Mini Secretariat Shopian was flagged off by DC Shopian, Shishir Gupta in presence of SSP Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary; ADDC, Dr.Nasir Ahmad Lone; ADC, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz and other officers and citizens. Thousands of participants, including students, officers, employees, and members of civil society, youth, volunteers of Mera Yuva Bharat, NRLM members and other locals participated enthusiastically in the event, holding the Tricolour and raising slogans promoting the message of unity, integrity, and national pride.

District Administration Baramulla observed the day with great enthusiasm and patriotic zeal. The main event was held at the Government Degree College Ground, Baramulla, where DC Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, administered the Unity Pledge to a large gathering of participants.

A run was organised, which commenced from the Mini Secretariat and culminated at District Police Lines (DPL) Kulgam.  The run was flagged off by the DC Kulgam Athar Aamir Khan along with SSP Kulgam Anayat Ali Choudhary.

A pledge-taking ceremony was also held in the lawns of the Mini Secretariat, where the DC administered the oath to officers, officials and participants of their collective commitment to preserve the unity, integrity, and security of the nation.

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) was observed today across district Anantnag with multiple functions and activities held to honour his legacy and contribution for the country.   The main function was held at Town Hall Anantnag which was presided over by the DC, SF Hamid and attended by CEO PDA, ADC, GM DIC, ACR, DySP, Exens of various engineering wings, district and sectoral officers, officials, civil society members and local public.

On the occasion, the DC administered Unity Pledge to the participants and paid rich tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for his glorious vision and contribution in unification of the nation. He emphasized that Rashtriya Ekta Diwas reminds us that strength lies in unity and the government functionaries and citizens can equally contribute in nation building.

Urging officers to work with commitment and sincerity, Hamid said that proper implementation of developmental initiatives and public welfare schemes has a meaningful impact in development of society and country at large. During the program, documentaries showcasing the life and vision of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel were screened, reflecting his role in building a united India.

The celebration concluded with a renewed resolve among all participants to uphold the ideals of peace, unity, and collective progress.

Earlier, a Run for Unity was organized at District Headquarters which witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers of civil and police administration, students, officials, and citizens, spreading the message of unity and harmony.

District Administration Pulwama, in collaboration with Police, CRPF & Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) Pulwama (Department of Youth Affairs, Government of India), organised a mega "Run for Unity". DC Pulwama Dr Basharat Qayoom flagged off a vibrant bike rally, where participants proudly carried the national flag, spreading the message of “Unity in Diversity.”

District Administration Bandipora also observed National Unity Day by organizing a ‘Run for Unity’ from Chitternar to Sher-e-Kashmir Sports Stadium Bandipora.

DC Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, administered the Unity Pledge at Chitternar Bandipora in presence of the SSP Bandipora, Ajaz Zargar, along with officers from civil administration and police.  District Administration Budgam organised a grand Run for Unity, followed by an Ekta Diwas Pledge Ceremony at Sheikh-ul-Alam Hall, Budgam. The event, aimed at fostering the spirit of national integration and paying tribute to the Iron Man of India, was organised under the overall supervision of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat.

Meanwhile, Sopore Police organised a series of events, including a Unity Run, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge, and Plantation Drive, across the district.

The District Administration Kupwara organised a “Run for Unity” as part of the National Unity Day celebrations.  The event aimed to promote national integration, unity, and harmony among the youth.

The run was flagged off by DC Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, in presence of SSendent of Police Kupwara, Al Tahir Gilani, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, ACR, ASP, CEO, and other officers from the district administration, My Bharat Mera Yuva Bharat, and the Department of Youth Services & Sports.

Ekta Diwas Parade was held at District Police Lines  Kupwara to honour Sardar Patel’s legacy. The parade, commanded by DySP PC Shivek Sharma, featured contingents of police and auxiliary forces in an impressive march past. SSP Kupwara administered the Ekta Pledge, reaffirming the collective commitment to unity, integrity, and national harmony. The event concluded with an Ekta Tree Plantation at DPL Kupwara, symbolizing peace, growth, and togetherness.
