Rana rallies to shield J&K reservations from NC-Congress tinkering

Nagrota, Sep 04: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devender Singh Rana Wednesday said that the BJP would not allow the National Conference and the Congress to tinker with the reservation of Schedule Castes (SCs), Schedule Tribes (STs), Gujjars, Paharis, and Other Backward Castes (OBCs) in Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a rally here Rana said both these allies were “frustrated” over the political empowerment of these communities in J&K, as ensured by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the true spirit of B R Ambedkar’s constitution.

He said that under sheer frustration, the NC was taking out its venom against these marginalised segments by brazenly declaring in their manifesto that the reservation guaranteed under the Constitution of India would be reviewed and repealed, inferring that the SCs, STs, OBCs, Gujjars, and Pahari youth would be deprived of their legitimate share in jobs, admissions in professional educational institutions, and other amenities as enjoyed by the weaker sections across the country.

Rana said that the Congress had volunteered to further the NC’s agenda against the reserved categories of the society, which was not only against the spirit of the constitution but also dangerous, aimed at jeopardising the nation’s fight against social injustice.

He said that the BJP would never allow such sinister designs to succeed and the people of J&K would give a befitting reply to such “divisive machinations” during the ongoing assembly elections.

Rana said that the major political initiative post abrogation of Article 370 about the empowerment of weaker sections of the society was a sacred mission for the BJP, which was committed to protecting their rights at all costs.

He cautioned the NC and the Congress to not even think about the marginalisation of the SCs, STs, OBCs, Gujjars, and Paharis, who had every right to progress and prosper politically, economically, socially, and in every field like education and jobs.
