Ramban teacher awarded honorary doctorate for transforming digital education in remote areas
Banihal, Nov 16: In a moment of pride for Jammu and Kashmir, Muddasir Nazar Wani, a distinguished teacher from the School Education Department, Ramban, has been honoured with an honorary doctorate in computer science by the Sahayata Seva Award Council, an organisation recognised by the Government of India. The award ceremony took place at Radisson Blu, Paschim Vihar, New Delhi, on 14 November 2025.
Belonging to the remote region of Banihal, Muddasir Nazar Wani has been a driving force behind computer literacy and digital education since 2006. His dedicated service at Higher Secondary School, Banihal, coupled with extensive community-oriented computer training programmes, has significantly strengthened technological awareness in the region.
Apart from teaching, Muddasir has authored several articles on computer science, contributing to academic discussions and motivating students to pursue careers in technology. His efforts to introduce modern digital skills in geographically challenging areas have earned him widespread appreciation.
Officials from the Sahayata Seva Award Council hailed him as a “torchbearer of digital education in remote areas,” acknowledging his unwavering commitment to empowering students through technology.
Expressing his gratitude, Muddasir Wani said the honour has further inspired him to continue working for the educational upliftment of the Ramban district, especially in the field of digital skills and computer education.
