Ramban police recover 20 smartphones worth Rs 5 lakh

Ramban, Dec 31: The Cyber Cell of Ramban Police traced and recovered 20 lost mobile phones amounting to approx 05 lakh. Apart from this an amount of Rs 6 lakhs (approx) which has been swindled in various complaints of financial fraud has been recovered and successfully refunded to the victims.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban Kulbir Singh handed over the recovered mobile phones to their legitimate owners at District Police office Ramban. He appealed to the general public to take utmost care of their mobiles as they contain personal data and there is a possibility of misuse.

He said that upon receiving their missing/lost mobile phones, the owners felt elated and expressed their gratitude towards the District Police Ramban, for their arduous effort in tracing their missing mobiles.

SSP Ramban emphasized the importance of safeguarding mobile devices due to the sensitive information they often contain, highlighting the potential risks associated with their misuse. He urged the public to exercise utmost caution in handling their mobile phones to prevent any untoward incidents.

Moreover the SSP reiterated in his appeal to the general public to remain extra vigilant and report promptly to the National Helpline Number 1930, or lodge cyber complaints online at www.cybercrime.gov.in and in case of Lost/Stolen Mobile report on www.ceir.gov.in.
