Ramban Police arrest 5 bovine  smugglers

Ramban, May 20: Ramban Police arrested five bovine smugglers, seized six vehicles and recovered 73 animals illegally being transported towards Kashmir on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on Monday.

Police sources said Ramban Police under the supervision of SSP Ramban Anuj Kumar has foiled six bovine smuggling attempts, arrested five bovine smugglers, rescued 73 bovines and seized 6 vehicles. They said a Police team of Police Station Chanderkote intercepted a vehicle during checking and seven animals were found laden inside the vehicle. One person was arrested.

In another instance, the Police team of Police Station Ramban intercepted three vehicles. During checking 53 bovines were found laden in these vehicles. Two persons were arrested while the driver of one vehicle managed to escape from the spot.

In another instance, the Police Party of Police Station Ramsoo intercepted two vehicles. During checking,13 bovines were found laden in these vehicles. They said two persons were arrested.

Police said all the animals were tied cruelly and were being transported illegally.
