Madhav, along with Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, was recently appointed by the BJP as in-charge of the upcoming Assembly elections in J&K.

This development underscores the party’s ambitions in J&K.

According to a senior BJP leader, Madhav's deep political connections and his experience in forming alliances, such as the coalition with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015, make him an ideal choice to lead the party's efforts in these elections.

His re-engagement with the party reflects the BJP’s strategy of leveraging experienced leaders who have a proven track record in J&K.

Madhav, who played a crucial role in BJP’s past successes in J&K and the North-East, had taken a step back from the limelight after being removed as general secretary in 2020.

However, his return to an active role indicates the BJP’s determination to strengthen its position in the politically sensitive J&K.

The BJP, which secured significant victories in J&K under Madhav’s influence in previous elections, is now looking to him once again as it prepares for the Assembly elections.

The party’s leadership is keen on exploring all possibilities, including forming a government or at least ensuring a significant role in the post-election scenario.
