Rajouri, Dec 31: Former Chief Minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday said that people of Rajouri and Poonch districts have always stood by country's forces but some of them have been treated brutally recently after Bufliyaz attack.

Addressing a press conference in Poonch, she described the series of recent events as “unfortunate.”Mehbooba demanded compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the families of three civilians who lost their lives in army questioning besides one government job, plot in roadside areas . She also demanded compensation of Rs five lakh to those injured besides other aids to them.

The former Chief Minister stated that she was restricted from visiting areas of Rajouri on Sunday after restrictions on her visit to Topi Peer village on Saturday.

Mehbooba said that Rajouri and Poonch people have always stood up with the forces of country in different battles fought in the area." But it is unfortunate to see how these patriotic people have been treated recently after DKG attack, " Mehbooba Mufti said while also condoling loss of lives of army soldiers in the attack.

She said that people were beaten brutally after this attack for no fault of their’s. Mehbooba Mufti while calling for an in-depth probe and action against accused said that Defense Minister, Army Chief and others including J&K LG visited the areas after the incidents but there is no action seen so far.

“ We call for all kinds of efforts to be made as that any such incident is not repeated," she said. " I was on my way to Topi Peer village yesterday but was detained illegally and today I was not allowed to visit Rajouri areas with excuse of CASO in the areas," said the former Chief Minister who claimed that restrictions being imposed on her visit are illegal. She added that her visit was aimed to meet victim families, listen to their plight and heal their wounds.
