Rajnath Singh to inaugurate conference on defence manufacturing
New Delhi, Oct 6: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate a national-level conference on ‘Opportunities in Defence Manufacturing in the Country’ at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on October 7, 2025. Organised by the Department of Defence Production under the Ministry of Defence (MoD), the conference aims to strengthen coordination between the MoD and State/UT Governments to align regional industrial policies and infrastructure development with India’s goal of achieving self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
During the event, the Defence Minister will launch the new ‘Defence Exim Portal’, which will streamline the process for issuing export and import authorisations, and ‘Srijan DEEP (Defence Establishments and Entrepreneurs Platform)’, a digital repository mapping the capabilities and products of Indian defence industries.
Two key publications — ‘Aerospace & Defence Sector Policy Compendium of States and Union Territories’ and the iDEX Coffee Table Book titled ‘Shared Horizons of Innovation’ — will also be released. The conference will bring together senior officials from State and UT Industry Departments to discuss their role in advancing India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem and highlight ongoing national initiatives to boost indigenisation, defence exports, and private investment in the sector.
