New Delhi, Oct 27: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said the successful use of Made-in-India weapons systems during Operation Sindoor has enhanced India’s global military reputation, calling it a testament to the country’s growing defence self-reliance.

Addressing the annual session of the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) in New Delhi, Rajnath Singh said the world witnessed the strength of indigenous systems such as the Akash missile, BrahMos, and AkashTeer Air Defence Control System during the operation.

“The credit for this success goes not only to our brave Armed Forces but also to our ‘industry warriors’ who are driving innovation and manufacturing,” he said.

He urged the domestic defence industry, especially the private sector, to accelerate innovation, focus on research and development, and dominate supply and maintenance chains through technology-based manufacturing of subsystems and components.

Referring to lessons from Operation Sindoor, the Defence Minister said it should serve as a case study in preparedness.

“Anything can happen at our borders, anywhere, anytime. Our readiness must rest on our own foundation,” he said.

Noting that India’s defence production has risen from Rs 46,000 crore in 2014 to Rs 1.51 lakh crore, including Rs 33,000 crore from the private sector, Rajnath Singh expressed confidence that defence exports would reach Rs 30,000 crore by March 2026.
