Srinagar, May 12: Rains lashed Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday with the Meteorological Department (MeT) forecasting more showers in the coming days.

According to MeT officials, Srinagar received 2 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours till 8:30 am while Qazigund saw 3.6 mm, Pahalgam 0.4 mm, Kupwara 8.1 mm, Kokernag 2 mm, Gulmarg 8.6 mm, Jammu 11.8 mm, Banihal 3 mm, Batote 11.4 mm, Katra 10.2 mm, and Bhaderwah 1 mm of rainfall.

The forecast indicates generally cloudy weather with intermittent light to moderate rain expected in most places, along with the possibility of thunder, lightning, hailstorms, and gusty winds in some areas.

On May 13, the weather is expected to be partly to generally cloudy with light rain and thunder in a few places.

From May 14 to 18, generally dry weather is expected, while on May 19, generally cloudy weather with light rain and thunder in some places is expected in the afternoon.

From May 20 to 23, generally dry weather is anticipated.

Regarding temperatures, the MeT officials said that Srinagar recorded a low of 12.6 degrees Celsius, which is 2 degrees Celsius above normal.

Qazigund recorded a minimum of 10.8 degrees Celsius, Pahalgam 5.8 degrees Celsius, Kokernag 10.2 degrees Celsius, and Kupwara 9.6 degrees Celsius.

Gulmarg recorded a minimum of 5 degrees Celsius, Jammu 19.3 degrees Celsius, Banihal 13.8 degrees Celsius, Batote 11.5 degrees Celsius, and Bhaderwah 10.6 degrees Celsius. The temperatures in most places were either above or near normal for this time of year.
