This decision has been prompted by the challenging weather conditions that have gripped the region and a warning of possible snow avalanches issued JKDMA (Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority), said an official.

However the practical examinations will be conducted as per schedule," said Dr Nazir Ahmed, Cluster Head of Schools.

"After two and half month, classwork in all the schools of winter zone of Jammu Province was supposed to be resumed from today, but harsh weather conditions that will further intensify by tomorrow morning as per the Metrological department, administration was left with no other option but to suspend the class work for two days," Dr Nazir added saying that schools will reopen on Monday.
