Jammu, Oct 22: MLA Udhampur East, Ranbir Singh Pathania Wednesday reaffirmed his commitment to restore every suspended and derailed network in the constituency and essential supplies including drinking water, electricity and other public utilities - within the shortest possible time.

He was addressing the gathering after kickstarting the restoration work of denuded and damaged roads at Rakh Badali area of Udhampur, which were severely affected due to the recent spell of incessant rains and flash floods.

“Our cherished goal is to bring the entire system back on track. Every household and every essential service disrupted by the recent calamity will be restored with urgency and compassion,” said Pathania.

He informed that for families, whose houses were damaged or washed away, he, in the ensuing Assembly seesion, would call for early provisioning of 5 marla plots of land where they could rebuild their homes with dignity. Supplementing government efforts, Pathania announced that funds from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) would also be channelled to aid restoration works and immediate relief.

While reviewing on-ground works, he emphasised that Udhampur’s development roadmap was not limited to temporary restoration but aimed for long-term resilience and modernisation.

“We are working to build Udhampur as a model constituency - with strong infrastructure, robust health and education facilities, sustainable water and power systems and improved connectivity to every far-flung hamlet,” Pathania added.

He further stressed on adopting disaster-resilient engineering practices, revamping rural roads and strengthening public infrastructure so that such calamities in the future caused minimal disruption to daily life.

The MLA was accompanied by Puran Chand, DDC Member) besides a number of local people and party workers, who expressed gratitude for his proactive response and round-the-clock monitoring of relief measures.

“The event marked yet another step in his sustained mission to rebuild and rejuvenate Udhampur - not just through emergency repair works, but through a long-term vision of inclusive development, modern civic amenities and people-centric governance,” the participants said.
