Rainfall-triggers landslides, shuts vital roads in Rajouri, Reasi

Rajouri, Jul 5: Heavy rainfall overnight triggered landslides and shooting stones in parts of Rajouri and Reasi districts, leading to the closure of key roads on Saturday morning, officials said.

Among the affected routes was the Rajouri–Kandi–Budhal road, which links Rajouri district headquarters with the Kotranka sub-division.

In Reasi district, the Reasi–Arnas–Mahore road was also blocked, cutting off access between Mahore sub-division, Arnas, and the rest of the district.

Military and civilian traffic on both roads was suspended following the landslides.

The 110 Road Construction Company (RCC) of the 31 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) responded promptly, initiating clearance operations and restoring traffic within a few hours, officials said.
