Rajouri, Jan 27: Light rainfall has induced slight improvement in the atmospheric conditions, especially in terms of dry weather, in areas of Rajouri and Poonch districts of Pir Panjal region, bringing brief respite to the people.

Light showers lashed the sub-region on Friday morning, after a gap of almost two months.

“It was a brief drizzle only but was a welcome one as it occurred after a gap of two months,” a local Subhash Chander said, adding that even a brief drizzle could induce improvement in the weather.

He said that the prolonged dry season had affected normal life badly and the farming sector was in critical mode as the wheat crop was dying.

“We are hopeful that there will be ample rainfall soon as predicted by the concerned department,” he said.

In-charge and Head Scientist, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Rajouri, Arvind K Isher said that the dry season lasted more than two months and was yet to be over.

“Dry season will only end after ample rainfall which is predicted in the next few months,” Isher said. “Nevertheless a brief drizzle on Friday brought a bit of respite in terms of clear atmospheric conditions.”
