Srinagar, July 7: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Sunday issued a nowcast alert, forecasting light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms across several regions of Jammu and Kashmir over the next 4 to 6 hours.

According to the update issued at 1320 hrs, areas likely to experience rainfall and thunder include Uri, Gulmarg, Poonch, Rajouri, many parts of Budgam and South Kashmir, as well as portions of Srinagar and Ganderbal districts, including the Kangan–Sonamarg axis, and the Banihal–Ramban and Baltal–Holy Cave–Pahalgam axes.

Rain activity is also expected in parts of Reasi, Katra, Udhampur, and the plains of Jammu.

The MET Centre has also cautioned that intense showers in a few places may trigger flash floods, landslides, mudslides, or shooting stones, particularly in hilly and vulnerable terrain.

In addition, strong gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h may affect isolated areas, prompting residents and travelers to remain alert.
